Liner Roof System
Create cathedral ceilings with beautiful and uncluttered exposed wood. The cedar liner system is more economical than the beamed roof system.

Plaster And Accent Beam Roof System
Use for cathedral ceilings with a plaster or drywall finish to brighten rooms with reflected light. This roof system has beautiful exposed support beams and is an economical roof system.

Material Detail- Roof System:
BEAMED
  1. Rafters
    #1 Douglas fir, one of the strongest and most stable large dimension woods available.
    Engineered for spans and snowloads.
    Pre-cut to length, notched, drilled and labeled for easy on-site assembly.
  2. Collar Ties
    Precision interlocking joinery ties rafter pairs together.
  3. Roof Decking
    2"x6" Ponderosa pine or western red cedar.
  4. #15 Felt Paper
    Asphalt saturated.
  5. Insulation
    Two offset "thermal layers" of 2" rigid foam provide an energy efficient roof system of R-33. Higher R-values are available.
  6. 1/2" 5-ply Fir Plywood
  7. Architectural Shingles
    Laminated architectural fiberglass shingles with an attractive random-cut, textured appearance.
  8. Drip Edge
    5" metal drip edge.

LINER (not shown in diagram)
  1. Liner Material
    Tongue and groove 1"x6" cedar.
  2. Rafters
    Typically 2x12 SPF.
  3. Insulation
    9" fiberglass bat (owner supplied), makes the roof system an R-32. Higher R-values are available.
  4. 5/8" Fir Plywood
  5. #15 Felt Paper
    Asphalt saturated .
  6. Architectural Shingles
    Laminated architectural fiberglass shingles with an attractive random-cut textured appearance.
  7. Drip Edge
    5" metal drip edge.

PLASTER AND ACCENT BEAM (not shown in diagram)

              Same as the Liner Roof System, except the liner material is replaced by drywall (owner supplied).
