Beamed Mid-Floor System (Standard)
This premium system of beautiful pine decking above Douglas fir joists is customary in Habitat's post and beam frames and adds value to your home.

Use plaster or drywall between the beams to brighten any room.  This system gives flexibility for recessed lighting and alternative heating/cooling systems.

Material Detail- Mid-Floor System:
BEAMED (Standard)
  1. Carrying Beams/Plate Beams
    Type and size dependent on structural loads.
    6"x8" #1 Douglas fir beams.
    Laminated architectural grade wood beams are engineered to bear the heaviest loads.  Pre-cut, notched and numbered.
  2. Joists
    #1 Douglas fir, sized for floor load. 
    Pre-cut, notched and numbered.
  3. Decking
    2x6 Ponderosa pine makes an attractively finished V-joint ceiling and solid floor system.

PLASTER AND BEAM (Optional)
  1. Carrying Beams/Plate Beams
    Type and size dependent on structural loads.
    6"x8" #1 Douglas fir beams.
    Laminated architectural grade wood beams are engineered to bear the heaviest loads.  Pre-cut, notched and numbered.
  2. Primary Joists
    #1 Douglas fir, sized for floor load.
    Pre-cut, notched and numbered.
  3. Between Primary Joists
    Drywall (owner supplied).
  4. Secondary Joists
    Typically 2"x8" SPF.
    5 3/4" tongue and groove fir plywood.
